Responsibilities
Assist in Neuro Interventional Procedures: Provide direct surgical support during neuro interventional radiology procedures.
Pre- and Post-Procedure Patient Care: Conduct pre-procedure evaluations, obtain patient histories, and perform physical exams to ensure readiness for interventional procedures. Monitor patients post-procedure, manage recovery, and provide discharge instructions.
Perform and Interpret Diagnostic Imaging: Assist in reviewing neuroimaging studies (CT, MRI, angiography) and correlate findings with clinical presentations.
First-Assist in Surgical Settings: Provide hands-on assistance during complex neurovascular interventions, ensuring optimal patient safety and procedural efficiency.
Manage Inpatient and Outpatient Care: Round on hospitalized patients, update treatment plans, and coordinate care with neurology, neurosurgery, and ICU teams. Conduct outpatient follow-ups and coordinate long-term care plans.
Emergency Response & On-Call Support: Respond to stroke alerts and other neurovascular emergencies, assisting in rapid assessment and intervention. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 patient care support.
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with interventional radiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and critical care teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
Patient & Family Education: Communicate procedure risks, benefits, and expected outcomes to patients and families, ensuring informed consent and understanding.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Quality Improvement & Research Participation: Engage in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and clinical trials related to neurovascular interventions.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree.
Graduate of an approved PA program.
Licensed and registered Physician Assistant in New York State. NCCPA certified.
Previous experience in NIR, neurology, neurosurgery, or interventional radiology preferred.
Strong clinical, procedural, communication, and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of EKG, Xray interpretation, Xray/CT/MRI protocols; pharmacology-including ability to adjust doses.
Knowledge of Computer and standard office equipment, Contrast Injector equipment, Patient Monitoring equipment, Defibrillator, EKG Machine, Sono Site Rite-Venous Localization, PACS/Centricity, EMR.

Overview
To perform clerical and receptionist duties essential to the operation of patient care as directed and instructed by the nursing staff, physician staff and other allied health professionals. Responsibilities
-Receives calls from Attending, Resident , and Secretaries for a date and time to schedule Operative procedures in the Operating Room.
Receives calls to cancel previously booked
Receives calls to reschedules OR procedures
Receives calls to rebook previously canceled procedures
-Schedules patients for pre-test before scheduled surgery date.
-Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients,visitors, and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Hospital Center and its employees.
-Separate, file, and copy all paper work for five units:
Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery, Recovery Room, GYN 4th floor, and Cardiac Cath.
-Accepts booking sheet ensures all procedures booked has laterality completed if applicable. If laterality not completed calls surgeons offices and requests, new surgical request is sent with laterality completed.
-Huddles with operating room materials staff, central processing staff, anesthesiologist, operating room management or charge nurse to ensure supplies are ready for next day procedures.
-Picks up post-operative sheets daily from operating room. Inputs post-operative data daily. Ensures post-operative data is current not being more than a week behind.
-Notifies operating room ANCC if additional rooms such as special procedure room (OPP) are opened to ensure additional staff is available. Any add-ons or a special request for equipment by the surgeon is communicated to ANCC/Director of operating room.
-Provides reports for Director/AVP/CNO as requested.
-Maintains open communication with the operating room desk at all times
-Receives and answers high volume of phone calls.
-Monitors and implements physicians block times.
-Call and inform all surgeons of their daily OR start time.
-Makes copies, fax and distributes final schedule to appropriate areas daily.

Job Description
NYC Communities for Health (NYCC4H) is a prevention-based and SAMHSA-funded program housed at NYU Silver School of Social Work. Our mission is to prevent STIs, underage drinking, and substance use through community prevention education, harm reduction resources, and referrals to social and clinical services to ensure safer cities and healthier futures for Bronx youth ages 13-24. By addressing historical health injustices for marginalized groups (e.g., Black and Latinx communities), we aim to minimize health disparities and empower community members to enact change in their daily lives. Related to these goals, NYCC4H also provides overdose prevention and response training with fentanyl test strips (FTS) and naloxone (NARCAN®) to address substance use disparities in communities in need of such services.
Responsibilities
The Community Outreach & Research Assistant will specialize primarily in Community Outreach and Engagement:
Outreach: Conducting outreach with community organizations in NYC to create and carry out a community engagement plan.
Data Collection: Facilitating surveys to gather community insights.
Service Delivery: Conduct engaging and informative training sessions on opioid overdose prevention and response using fentanyl test strips (FTS) and naloxone (NARCAN®). Training will be conducted in person at events throughout NYC and remotely via Zoom.
Resource Identification: Identifying resources to help participants overcome care barriers and implementing referrals.
Navigation Support: Assisting participants with accessing and staying in care for substance use disorders and STI/HIV treatment, including offering accompaniment when needed.
Supply Preparation: Managing supplies for outreach and community events, as well as assisting with inventory management.
Qualifications
