The Social Work Assistant provides case management that is consistent with WeCARE and UBA-Montefiore policies for participants and
applicants who are deemed Unable to work. The worker facilitates the process to apply for Federal Disability benefits according to the process described by HRA, UBA-WeCARE and the Social Security Administration.
The staff adequately explains the process of the Disability track as well as the process of applying for benefits to the participant/applicant so that they can understand their role in the participation of the service to ensure successful completion of services. This position reports to the WeCARE Supervisor and Assistant Director of Disability.
Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field required. Master’s degree program in human services or related field preferred. Minimum of one year of experience providing direct services to people with psychosocial barriers to employment. Effective oral/written/interpersonal communication skills required. Bilingual skills preferred but not required. Basic computer skills required.
