POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, provides nursing care to ensure
client receives optimum, quality, cost effective care.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
• Promotes an atmosphere of professionalism, cooperation, respect, and dignity in all communication/interaction with clients, their families, and colleagues.
• Facilitates the orderly performance of the agency’s functions by observing policies and standards of conduct.
• Assist clients to ensure the prescribed plan of care is followed.
• Administer medication in conformance with policy and procedures.
• Observe each client for possible signs of intoxication prior to dispensing.
• Observe each client for possible medication side effects and notifies NM/designee immediately.
• Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed.
• Document and maintain client medical records adhering to institutional and regulatory agency mandates.
• Performs tasks and responsibilities within the framework of casefinding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive to or restorative care under the direction of the registered professional nurse.
• Performs duties and tasks within their scope of practice
• Role model for staff and clients
• All other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
• Maintain good working relationships with all employees.

Preferred Experience and Certifications -
Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience.
Note regarding MSN degrees: If your MSN was obtained via a Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration, a BSN is not required.

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to wear protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.

Job Description
CASAC responsibilities include:
- Making Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion
-Conducts individual counseling session, open and closed groups, family and con-joint counseling sessions
- Presents alcoholism and substance abuse educational information to patients and significant others.
- Functions as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Ensures referrals to modalities of such as determined by the needs of the patient.
- Write clear, timely, concise progress notes, areas of conflict short term, long term treatment planning and psychosocial history, etc.
- Assess new patients upon admission.
- Conducts small group activities
- Provides timely progress reports to referring agencies
- Maintain and enhance professional growth and development through in-services, seminars, workshops, professional affiliations, etc.
