  • What is AHEC?

    AHEC stands for Area Health Education Center. An Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a not - for- profit organization that works in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs) and other medically underserved neighborhoods. Through collaboration with community-based partners, an AHEC recruits students interested in healthcare professions, trains and supports healthcare professionals and advocates eliminating health disparities.
  • What is BW AHEC?

    Bronx-Westchester Area Health Education Center (BW AHEC) is a partner of the New York State Area Health Education Center System.  BW AHEC serves to improve the health and healthcare outcomes of underserved communities in the Bronx and Westchester areas through recruitment, retention and enrichment for the healthcare workforce.
  • Who does BW AHEC serve?

    BW AHEC serves students who live or attend school in Bronx or Westchester counties.
